Scoring decides what kind of pool you have. Here are the common systems, what each one rewards, and our defaults.

Our defaults (custom scoring comes with the Pool Pass)

| Format | Scores | Default points |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Bracket | Correct series winner by round | 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 |
| Bracket | Correct number of games | +1 |
| Pick'em | Correct game winner | 1 |
| Salary cap and draft | Goal / assist | 1 / 1 |
| Salary cap and draft | Goalie win / shutout | 2 / 2 |

## Bracket pools

- **Doubling (our default: 1-2-4-8):** the later rounds matter most, so a good Cup pick can win it.
- **Flat (1-1-1-1):** rewards picking many first-round series right. Leaders tend to pull away early.
- **Games bonus:** an extra point for the exact series length. It breaks a lot of ties.

## Player pools (salary cap and draft)

- **Points only (our default for skaters):** 1 per goal, 1 per assist.
- **Goal-weighted:** 2 per goal, 1 per assist. Favours snipers over playmakers.
- **Goalies:** 2 per win and 2 per shutout is our default. Without goalie scoring, goalies are useless picks.
